Goldshaw Booth Parish Council

Can you dig it...?

As we shiver, slip and slide our way through Winter we look forward to the coming Spring and all the cheer it brings!

It will soon be time for the Together in Goldshaw gang to pick-up where we left off (and our spades), and start preparing for the planting of the fruit bushes, herbs and wild flowers in Newchurch park and the garden areas of Spenbrook and Sabden Fold. Just like the fruit trees of the park, the wild raspberries, blackberries, strawberries, bilberries and herbs of the hedgerows, the fruit bushes will bear fruit for the Community to forage and enjoy – just be sure you know what you’re picking! (A reference book like Richard Mabey’s ‘Food For Free’ is useful.)

The wild flower areas will burst forth with blooms of abundant colour this year (weather permitting!) and will help support our busy-bee pollinators. Keep an eye on the Facebook pages to join the Together in Goldshaw gang (and our resident Flower Fairy), and plant for the future!

There are more green-space volunteering opportunities with Pendle Borough Council here.

The CCTV projects for Spenbrook and Sabden Fold are now up and running and, with the cameras in Newchurch, complete the Goldshaw Booth CCTV project. In the event of an incident all requests for CCTV recordings can be made via Joe at clerk@goldshawbooth.org.uk. The CCTV Policy is available on the GBPC website.

Road safety has long been a concern of residents and recent incidents have brought the matter to the fore once more. The Parish Council has been busy emailing Pendle Borough Council and Lancashire County Council pressing for very necessary improvements to be made to the roads of the Parish and, following the recent incidents, road safety was raised as an issue and discussed with the local Police representative at January’s Barrowford & Western Committee meeting. We now need documented incidences of road safety issues so they can be presented as evidence to the Highways dept. and the Police. These should contain dates, times and details of the incident with supporting images if possible.

Residents have been very helpful in reporting road condition issues and taking images, and we would like to thank you for that. Let’s now do the same with safety issues; speeding, near misses, damage caused etc. Incidents can be reported using the 101 Police online system or by calling 101. The report will be given a Log number. Please forward that number to us at clerk@goldshawbooth.org.uk so we can collate and present the evidence. Many thanks.
