Roughlee CE Primary School

Extension, improvement priorities, garden, new applications...

What a busy start to the year! We have been pleased to welcome new Reception children to Roughlee this month and it has been a pleasure to watch the children settle into their new routines and lessons. It has also been wonderful to watch them interact and play with their friends – school is a very happy place to be.

September is a very exciting month indeed, as our long awaited extension is due for completion. We would like to say a huge thank you to our neighbours and the local community for being so understanding and patient while the building works have been in progress. The extension will have a huge impact on the provisions that we can provide for our children and we can’t wait to start utilising it.

Last week, we held our annual School Improvement Meeting. During this meeting, parents/carers, governors and staff got together to reflect upon our recent successes and achievements and to look at our future improvement priorities in order to enhance our wonderful school. It was very enjoyable and informative for all. Thank you to the parents/carers and governors that attended.

Recently, we’ve had a few negative comments about our school garden. School is a very busy place so we often find it difficult to keep on top of the volume of work required to keep our school garden looking beautiful. We would like to appeal to the local community to help us to keep our school garden thriving. Our gate is always open, and we are always happy for people to come and get stuck in. We have gardening tools on site that you can use and we are more than happy to provide refreshments!

Applications for children to join us in Reception in September 2024 opened on 1st September 2023 and remain open until 15th January 2024. If you are interested in coming to have a look around the school, please contact us via 01282 613613 or bursar@roughlee.lancs.sch.uk.
