Goldshaw Booth Parish Council

Welcome aboard!

At February’s Parish Council meeting, and after a round of interviewing applicants, the appointment of our new Clerk was confirmed. We would like to welcome Neil Corry (resident of Spenbrook) to the team. Neil is semi-retired after years of experience as a civil servant and he is approaching the role with gusto! You can contact Neil with enquiries at the email address below.

As we march towards Spring we are looking for volunteers to help with two outdoor projects. The creation of a garden area in Spenbrook and some tree work in Sparable Wood. The garden will echo the rockery feel of the plots at the entrance of Gorrell Close. The wood will see the re-planting of those areas which have fallen foul of ash die-back, plus some hedge-laying to help encourage plant and wildlife diversification. These projects are funded by the Barrowford and Western Committee grant scheme. Please email your interest to Neil at clerk@goldshawbooth.org.uk.

As you’ll have read above, May 4th will see the first joint Community/Parish event to promote awareness of climate change and eco-preservation. The event is being held at St. Thomas’ church in Barrowford.

The Events Committee will soon be chatting online to plan their upcoming social gatherings. Please message Anthony Dawson or Laura Standring if you would like to get involved. The Events Committee has organised a number of brilliant gatherings for Easter, Summer, Bonfire and Christmas times. The Events Committee helps raise charitable funds through their events. Let the fun times begin!

As a reminder, we have 2 Councillor places available on the Parish Council. If you would like to get involved with Community projects as a Councillor please send an expression of interest to the Clerk’s email address above. Let us know a little bit about you and your interests, why you would like to join the Parish Council and of any particular issue you would like to address or events/projects you would like to see happen.

Many thanks and kind regards.
