Climate Change Action Day

Beacons not Bystanders - Sat 4th May, St Thomas’ Church

This is probably our last chance to encourage you to sign up for this free event on 4th May. We have a fantastic programme of speakers, starting at 11am with our keynote speaker Emeritus Professor Rick Battarbee.

Tickets are free but please register online here.

The workshops will enable you to:

  • Find out how Whalley are using water flow to generate electricity and money for eco projects
  • Learn about the wonders of organic farming and off grid energy
  • Find out how the Trawden team is managing to run the shop at the heart of their community
  • Hear about the work going on all round us by Forest of Bowland National Landscape and Ribble Rivers Trust
  • Discover what Readstone have been up to with their community environmental work

Also items on composting, reducing plastic and chemicals at home, bees and seed growing

In addition to our workshop programme we have children’s activities throughout the day including 3D “rubbish” sculpture, eco game, eco treasure hunt, crafts and storytelling. Snacks and more fun will be enjoyed while the panel discussion is taking place in the late afternoon.

We are delighted that the event is being supported by Go Velo and Prospects. The Go Velo team is setting up:-

  • Have a go children’s bikes
  • Dr Bike Repair service- why not lookout that old bike and bring it along or have your child’s bike checked over
  • Smoothie Bike

Prospects team will be bringing along electric bikes for you to try out.

The discussion panel will provide an opportunity for local residents to put questions to the local MP Andrew Stephenson, elected representatives and climate change experts.

Join us for free supper and fun at the ceilidh in the evening.

Tickets are free but please register online here.

Hope to see you on Saturday 4th May!
