Goldshaw Booth Parish Council

Onwards and Upwards!

The Parish Council was pleased to welcome a number of residents to the April meeting. Due to varied interests and concerns the public forum time was extended to make sure everyone had chance to speak. A wide range of topics were covered and, as a group of people living in the same Community, a general sentiment of satisfaction was expressed as the meeting closed. Personally I welcome such open discussion as it often leads to overall understanding and Community cohesion. As always the Minutes for the meetings will be available online and on the Parish noticeboards.

We look forward to welcoming more members of the Community to future meetings, particularly the annual parish meeting coming up soon, and don’t forget, for those interested in getting more involved there are a couple of seats available as Parish Councillors!

  • Parish Gardens
Even if you haven’t seen the Facebook posts on the Parish Council FB page (see below) by Kathryn Musso of Montford Cottage Gardening you may have noticed the fabulous job they are doing around Newchurch and Spenbrook in maintaining the garden areas – they look wonderful – thank you team!
  • D-Day Anniversary – Beacons – 6th June
Plans are building across the UK to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the D-Day landings with beacons to be lit across the UK. At the next PC meeting we will be discussing the potential to join the UK wide effort. Let us know if and how you would like to mark the occasion.
  • Community Climate Change Action Day, May 4th 10am onwards (St. Thomas’ Church Barrowford)
Join Beccy (one of our Parish Councillors), Father Paul and Ruth W. (Newchurch resident) in their campaign to not only raise awareness of climate change, but, to bring hope to the situation by presenting innovators of climate action from Pendle and the wider area. Representatives of Trawden Community Shop and Library and Whalley Hydro are amongst those who will be presenting real life initiatives to help effect change for the future. Full details below. Tickets are free but please register online here.
