Child’s question: where did Noah keep his bees?
We have two excellent village schools: links with Roughlee and St Mary’s Cidari Newchurch Primary School continue to develop and change. Sometimes people ask what work we do with schools.

Our schools’ collective worship is broadly Christian, and usually interactive, with stories, songs, time for reflection, and prayers – all in about 20 minutes. The Vicar, and representatives from the churches, visit schools regularly, between 3-7 times a half term.

[ READ MORE → ]The Annual Parish meeting attracted 50 residents in early May and there were presentations from the Women’s Institution (Sarah Hartley), the Village Hall (Tom Cosway), the Chapel (Lorraine Goldsbrough) and myself on behalf of the Parish Council. All contributors were able to reflect on some of the key events over the last year and their plans for the coming year; it is always fascinating to hear of things you had no idea about.

We are delighted to have a new councillor on board – Mark Hoban …

Leah Hooper and Sarah Holsdworth educated us on the services and support that Pendleside Hospice provide, they did this extremely well, as our system let us down, so they had to talk blindly without the assistance of PowerPoint slides. I think that everyone was impressed with their knowledge, but more importantly surprised at the vast array of services that Pendleside provide.
This was then followed by our own Simon …
