Goldshaw Booth Parish Council

Pub Walk, GBPC Summer BBQ, Community Wellbeing, Footpaths, Spenbrook Mill...

In June Goldshaw Booth Parish welcomed the 2,000 walkers taking part in the 16th annual Pendle Pub Walk, who stopped off in Newchurch to use the facilities there. The walk was a great success and organisers hope it will raise in the region of £100,000 for the vital work of Pendleside Hospice.

A couple of other local events are currently being planned. One is the GBPC Summer BBQ in August – date to be announced shortly, and the other is a Community Wellbeing event taking place in October 2025. GBPC is supporting St Mary’s Church with this event which aims to enhance the wellbeing of Pendleside residents by tackling issues including rural crime, social isolation, health and wellbeing and the cost-of living-crisis.

We would like to thank Pendle Borough Council’s Tom Partridge and his team of volunteers who have been working hard on a number of fabulous footpath improvements over the last couple of months, such as new stiles, self-closing gates and signposts, which are making a positive impact in the local area.

The recent work undertaken at the Spenbrook Mill site has been welcomed by residents there and the next key date is 21st July when it is hoped that the remaining landscaping, signage and gate restoration work will be completed. You may notice a number of other maintenance projects underway around the Parish over the summer – top of the list are painting the metal railings between Spenbrook and Higher Spen (right-hand side as you leave Spenbrook) and also weeding and pointing the flags in the Pavilion at the top of the playing fields.

Finally, there have been several complaints raised about parking in Newchurch and Spenbrook and we would like to take this opportunity to kindly request that all residents park in a considerate and courteous manner.

Many thanks.
