Roughlee Parish Council
Planning, Tree Preservation Order, Gardener, BKV Next Round, Under 16s...
It’s been a busy old month for the team with planning matters dominating our agenda and sucking up a lot of our time. Many of you will have seen the developments that have been taking place just off Pasture Lane, at the Forest of Pendle Caravan Park. We have been pursuing the Planning team at Pendle Council (probably to the point of annoying them) to see if this development is lawful and if not, what could be done to stop it. As part of this process we have managed to get a Tree Preservation Order placed on the entire wood in the area that is being developed. Things moved on a pace over the last few days and the Planning team are in the process of making their next move. Unfortunately at this point in time I am not at liberty to share these actions with you.
On a positive note I am pleased to say that we now have a new Gardener in the village (a local chap called Scott) and the impact that he has made over his first few weeks in position are very noticeable. I think that it will take him a bit of time to get to grips with all of the areas that have unfortunately been neglected before he took this role on. This leads me onto the BKV competition. I am very pleased to report that we have been successful in progressing to the next stage alongside Heapey, Hurst Green, Mere Brow and West Bradford in the Small Villages category. I also need to recognise and thank the many villagers that have taken their own time for the work that they have done, in keeping areas around the village looking so good.
Last month, I asked if any villagers with children that will be 16 or under, at the end of November 2025, to let us know who they are, we had some responses last month but we could do with more of you shouting out. Please could you let me know. (Thanks).
Finally, I am reliably informed that we have some new residents on Wood Close, so welcome back to the village Victoria Fisher and her family.
Next PC meeting Monday 4th August at 7pm.
