Roughlee Village Centre
Halloween Scarecrows & Festival, Historic Photos (1-2 Nov), Bay Horse, Witch Wines (8 Nov)...
Hi everyone it’s that time of year again – darker days and autumn fun. Our annual scarecrow displays will be up on Sat 1st November and there will be a £40 Bay Horse voucher prize for best overall display and a £20 voucher for best scarecrow. Please get your display up and add to the weekend of Halloween fun.
On the subject of displays the village centre is being taken over by Pendle Hill Museum CIC to launch the WORK/LIFE exhibition featuring historic images of Roughlee, Barley and Newchurch since 1900 – including rare photos of the boating lake, Clarion House, tea gardens, Newchurch pubs, and MUCH more. It’ll be on show Saturday 1st and Sunday 2nd November from 10am to 6pm – FREE entry! There will be a Temperance Bar raising funds for future projects (in a nod to Thorneyholme Hall’s past as a temperance hotel). Come and try out some of the best non-alcoholic, mood making spirits whilst you explore the exhibits!
With the Village Centre occupied that weekend, the landlords at the Bay Horse will be hosting the usual event plus extras. On Friday night there will be a fancy dress party with great prizes, free nibbles, dancing and music till late. On Saturday from 12pm the main restaurant will have scary films on the big screen, face painter, a refreshment area, the fancy dress will have 4 classes for all ages and genders to be judged between 2-3pm. The ever popular dance group ‘Stone The Crows’ will perform between 1.15-3.30pm with audience participation encouraged. As an added extra the Newman Rockets are performing at 7pm – the guitarist is sensational and is not to be missed. Scarecrow exhibits will be around for Sunday to peruse as well as the photography at the Village Centre.
Have a great time and enjoy, join us all!
Next month on November 8th we hold the popular Witch Wines event. It’s that time of year again, Witch Wines wine tasting coming to the Village Centre on 8th November. Always a great night with a chance to wine (sorry win) an odd bottle or three. Book early has there is already limited numbers available – 50% sold as I write.
