Goldshaw Booth Parish Council
TODAY: Houses of Halloween, Bonfire (8 Nov), Christmas Lights (6 Dec)...
With the nights drawing in, we’re looking forward to the traditional events of the season, starting with the Houses of Halloween in Newchurch between 1pm and 6pm today (1st November). Goldshaw Booth bonfire will take place on Saturday 8th November on the upper playing field in Newchurch and volunteers are very welcome to help build it the day before (Friday from 2pm). The fire will be lit at 6pm and some light refreshments will be available. Finally, the Christmas lights switch on and Santa’s grotto event will be held on Saturday 6th December, at 6.30pm in Newchurch. We’d like to thank local residents for their support with these events.
We were delighted to see our local MP and Mayor attending The Community Wellbeing event on Saturday 11th October. A number of services including the Samaritans, Young Farmers, Christians Against Poverty, Active Pendle and the Women’s Institute were on hand to offer support to local residents, and there are plans in place to look at holding similar events in the future.
On Sunday 9th November, the Remembrance Wreath will be laid during the service at St Mary’s Church at 9.15am. This year, we are recycling the wreath we bought last year and making a £25 donation to the Royal British Legion.
The annual playground inspection report was received last month and we have taken recommended actions to remove an identified hazard and to re-lay the tiles under the cradle swings. We have been really pleased with the work of the lengthsman and the Pendle Borough Council mowing team this year and the lengthsman will continue to do a few hours a month over the winter, to help keep the gardens tidy.
Please remember, residents are always very welcome to join the Parish Council meetings which take place at 7pm every second Monday of the month at St Mary’s Church, Newchurch, with tea, coffee and biscuits served.
