Goldshaw Booth Parish Council
Village Tidy, Painting, Jog in the Park (10 May), Annual Parish Meeting (11 May)...
We had a super turnout for the village tidy up session on 12th April and everyone worked really hard on chipping branches in the church yard, barrowing the woodchip, weeding, litter picking and collecting tree guards. Many thanks to everyone involved and to Claire Milligan for supplying the wood-chipper. We are hoping to turn this into a regular monthly session over the spring and summer – more details to follow.
The mowing and the gardening will start up again this month and Brian Pinder will be painting the roadside railings and attending to the benches in the churchyard. If you see any area that you feel needs attention, please get in touch with us at clerk@goldshawbooth.org.uk.
We hope to see a good turnout for the new Jog In The Park starting this month. Kath Brady is organising this event on Sunday mornings at 10am on 10th May, 31st May and 5th July. It’s a family and dog friendly event and you are welcome to choose a distance and pace to suit your needs. We are very grateful to Haffner’s Bakery for donating the refreshments and you can register for Jog in the Park at jogintheparkgb@hotmail.com.
Sadly, we were unsuccessful in our bid for a grant to fund three new history information boards in the villages. However, on the back of the talk from Pendle Forest History Group last month, work has started to design the content of the boards and we will seek alternative sources of funding.
Finally, we are thrilled to be screening the People’s Emergency Briefing at our Annual Parish Meeting on Monday 11th May at 7pm at St Mary’s Church, Newchurch-in-Pendle.
Please join us to watch this eye-opening film featuring nine leading UK scientists and experts who present the latest evidence on the climate and nature crisis, and its impacts on everyday life. The film is intended to be watched together in communities like ours, encouraging responses proportionate to the crisis. For further information click here.
