Roughlee Church of England Primary School

Summer Fair, History & Geography Week, Rubbish Day...

It was fantastic to be able to hold our annual Summer Fair again following the pandemic. Our families enjoyed a range of outdoor games, a tombola, face painting, some delicious food and our famous ping pong plunge. The Summer Fair is an invaluable source of fundraising for school so thank you to everyone who donated prizes and their time to make the Summer Fair another huge success. Thank you again to the Bay Horse and the Village Centre for allowing us to use their car parks. We look forward to doing it all again next year!

At school we regularly do ‘themed weeks’ and the children recently enjoyed History and Geography Week. As the vast majority of our children do not live in the village, we focused on the Parish of Roughlee, researching how it has changed over the decades. The children also compared Roughlee with other contrasting locations, i.e. comparing a rural village to a seaside town and they looked at the famous Pendle Witches. The children had a fantastic time learning about this lovely little village and its vast history.

Reverend Julie very kindly organised a ‘Rubbish Day’ for us last week. Throughout the day, the children explored a variety of different ways that we can all be good stewards of God’s creation and take care of our planet. They created bird feeders, ‘mud’ pots and some very creative junk models. We also twinned one of ours bins! We would like to say a big thank you to Reverend Julie for all she does for our school.
