St. Mary’s CE Primary School

SATs, summer production, fundraising, retirement...

We have been very busy at school especially the Yr 6 children who have sat their SAT exams, we are extremely proud of how dedicated the children have been and how hard they have worked in the lead up to their exams.

Friends of Newchurch organised a Boat Race, the cost was £1 per boat and they managed to sell over 500 boats, raising £542 (after prize money deductions.) Thank you Friends of Newchurch for your continued support of our school and thank you to the riverside volunteers and all the people that came to cheer the boats along!

The KS2 children are very excited as they have started rehearsals for their summer production, they will be performing Robin and the Sherwood Hoodies, the children have their scripts and are getting ready for auditions. This half term the KS2 children have also started their weekley swimming lessons.

Friends of Newchurch organised a competition to design a pattern to be printed onto a t-shirt for Fathers Day. A winning design from each class was chosen by a resident of the village and the two lucky dads were presented with their t-shirt in Celebration Assembly, Thank you again ladies for organising this!

One of the ways in which our Friends of Newchurch raise funds for school is through their monthly 100 Club draw. At the moment there are a handful of numbers with no owners, each number is worth £1 and the draw prizes are £25, £20 and £15. If you would like to take part in the draw please contact Miss Hacking at the school office.

Friends of Newchurch are holding a Summer Fair on Saturday 8th July 1pm- 4pm this is at school and all are welcome, this is free to attend however if you would like to purchase Cream Tea and a glass of fizz please email Miss Hacking at the school office who can provide more details.

Sadly Mr Duxbury who has been the schools Site Supervisor for the last 5 years has decided to retire at the end of the academic year, the staff at school will be very sad to see him go, but wish him all the best for his much deserved retirement.
