Barley WI –1st Wed of the month, 7.30pm at Barley Village Hall – December we had a packed meeting full of food & festivities but the highlight was definitely our cheque presentation to Pendle Hospice for £1000. A huge thanks and well done to our members and supporters raising a fantastic amount. Our next meeting is on Wednesday 3rd January when we start 2024 – the Chinese Year of the Dragon with a Tai Chi session which is suitable for all! We meet in Barley Village Hall at 7.30pm. New members are always welcome, first three meetings are free so you can make sure you like it! The WI isn’t just a monthly meeting , we have sub groups which include Walking, Crafting, Dining Club (The Sticky Toffee Pudding Club!) along with two book clubs.
Pendle Patchers –9th & 23rd Jan, from 1pm at Barley Village Hall – Reflecting on the past year, the Patchers are evidently a skilled and sociable group. Two newer members have completed their first ever quilts, several group members made pictures and bowls at their first wet felting workshop, we’ve enjoyed afternoon teas and a pie and peas lunch, and a trip to the Knitting & Stitching show. It has been good to share sewing, quilting and knitting tips, knowledge and ideas. Although we do our crafts at home, the camaraderie and support in the group make our meetings something to look forward to. If anyone wants to pop in on the second or fourth Tuesday of the month from 1pm onwards at Barley Village Hall, we would be pleased to see you. Best wishes to all for 2024.
