Volunteers Needed!
Barley Village Hall Committee would like to thank John Connor for his many years of service. After 20 years John has decided to step down from the Committee, over the years John has been instrumental in helping complete various projects and helping putting on events. He was always on hand to nip down to help out whenever a problem arose. You’ll be truly missed by the Committee – thank you!
With this in mind, we have some vacancies for some new members to join the Committee. I understand time is valuable these days, especially for those with young families, but we do need a few more volunteers to help keep and maintain the Hall open for business.
Today the Committee consists of 5 members: Jeanette, Sarah, Lynne, Sue, and myself, Tom. We each give up a few hours a month to help with the bookings, maintenance and general up keep of the Hall. For those who have never used the Hall before, we have held many events here over the years including weddings, parties, christenings, events, races, meetings and a whole host of other activities. The Hall is used on a weekly basis by lots of different people. The Hall is in good condition, but needs modernising. We have plans in place to redecorate, update the floorings, lightings, kitchen and toilets, but we need some help and support.
If you’ve a ‘can do’ attitude, and can work with a team then please reach out to me, Tom, by email. We meet on the first Tuesday of every month (at the Hall) for a couple of hours to help plan our projects. We’re also looking for someone to help with our socials and updating our website too, so if that’s your area of expertise then please let us know.
We really want to keep the Hall open for use for the residents of Barley and the surrounding areas. There are a lot more families in the village now, and we want you all to enjoy the hall, for now and the future. Feel free to come along and join the meeting – we’re a good bunch! Thank you.
