Here Comes the Sun!
Join us to plant the Parish gardens! We have donations of elderberry, gooseberry and raspberry bushes as well as funds for the Gateway to Spenbrook garden and for trees in Sparable wood. Fresh air and exercise followed by brews, butties and buns – what’s not to like? Look out for dates on the FB page.
The Best Kept Village Competition is here again. Last year Sabden Fold was noted as a runner-up. This year, with our new garden team and increased community effort, the Parish might be in with a shot?!
- Events
Plans are building across the UK to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the D-Day landings (June 6th, 2024) with beacons to be lit across the UK. Not to be confused with Beacons Not Bystanders which is a climate change awareness event, (May 4, 2024) starting at 10am, at St Thomas’ Church, Barrowford. These and other
events, including the Summer Social!, will be discussed at the next PC meeting (Thursday 4th April). - Police Presence
The PC welcomed PC Fielding to the March meeting who informed of an anti-social behaviour order being given out for horses being ridden down a footpath at Gorrell Close. An email was sent out to appropriate organisations dealing with horses to ask them to not use such footpaths. Who knew? Remember, if you’ve got hooves be careful where you put them!Following up on complaints of speeding in the area PC Fielding has completed speed-gun training, and he would now be conducting random speed checks in the area. To help tackle this and other issues building work has begun on the new Pendle Police Station (Carr Road, Nelson), which is due to be operational within two years.
