Goldshaw Booth Parish Council
Annual Electors' Meeting, Priorities, New Chair, Whatsapp group, Thanks...
The annual electors’ meeting took place in St Mary’s Church on Thursday 23rd May.
We were absolutely delighted with the turnout.
We are really grateful for residents contributing their thoughts and ideas to start to shape the Parish Council’s priorities for the year which include three key commitments:
- To progress collective community action to reduce our carbon footprint (look out for a residents’ survey coming soon!);
- To campaign for 20mph speed restrictions through the Parish;
- To continue to lobby the developers of Spenbrook Mill and Pendle Borough Council to adhere to the planning regulations and get the development completed.
The meeting was followed by cheese, wine and Kathleen’s famous overnight tea loaf.
Once we have gathered further ideas regarding carbon footprint reduction, we’ll look at another get together to prioritise these and enjoy some more food and drink.
Earlier at the Annual General Meeting, Frank Shiers was elected as Chair of the Council with Beccy Murrell becoming Vice Chair and we are all looking forward to building a closer relationship with members of the community and working together to make improvements in the villages.
A new Whatsapp group “Goldshaw Booth residents” has been set up to help us co-ordinate ideas and activities. If you would like to contribute, please join and if you are unsure how to, please contact any of the Council members or the Parish Clerk.
With the new leadership in place, we would like to take the opportunity to thank the previous Chair, Ainsley Macadam, for the effort that she put into the role. She was co-opted straight into the Chairman’s role at a difficult time, just after lockdown, when the Council was struggling to remain quorate. Ainsley spent a lot of time and effort cajoling Pendle Borough Council into releasing the (106) funds from the Spenbrook Development. It is amazing what projects weren’t considered allowable!
Finally, we still have 3 council vacancies that need filling. Please join us by providing an expression of interest to the Parish Clerk and we will be very pleased to get you on board and making the Parish an even better place in which to live.
