Roughlee Village Centre
Duck Race, FORA Celebration (19 Oct), Fundraising...
The RVCC will not be holding its annual Duck Race on September 7th due to a big joint 60th booking for a villager at the centre. Sadly we can’t reschedule for later in the month due to holidays that most of the committee are taking, but the Duck Race event will return with a vengeance in 2025.
As most of you will be aware the Friends Of Roughlee Appearance FORA efforts have enabled Roughlee to get into the final two villages of Lancashire’s Best Kept Village 2024. This is for the third year in a row – results will be announced on October 15th and hopefully it will be third time lucky!
We have decided to put on a celebration event on Saturday 19th October to celebrate their efforts whatever the judging outcome. The event will be a Quiz, Pie & Peas with music to follow. Price £10, any profits will be used by FORA for expenditure in 2025.
The committee would like to extend a massive thank you to all those who sponsored, supported and helped out with our recent fundraising events, The Gin, Beer and Music Festival and Walking with Witches Family Fun Day. Both events were a great success and enjoyed by locals and those from father afield.
Funds were raised from the two events to support Derian House Children’s Hospice in Chorley and we are delighted to report that the Hospice has benefitted to the sum of £5000 thanks to all those involved.
A cheque was recently presented to a representative from Derian House and our photo shows some of the volunteers who helped run the two events.
A particular thank you goes to Stuart Fraser who donated a specially made Chiminea that went up for auction on the family fun day, Our photo shows Stuart with the winning bidder, Mrs Betty Byrne, who also deserves a thank you for her generous bid, the chiminea should come in useful on those cold summer nights on the patio.
