Barley Village Hall
Curry Night, Upgrades, Fell Race...
On Saturday 7th September, The Hall held their annual Curry night, this time with help and support from the Barley Events Committee. 55 locals gathered for a night of entertainment including a three course Indian meal, quiz and raffle. Lots of money was raised for both the Village Hall and Events Committee that will be reinvested in to the Hall and to the Events Committee for future events. The food this time was done by Paula and the team at the Cabin and it was fantastic. The quiz was created by no other that Phil Hartley (he couldn’t be there to read it out on the night as he’d entered the elite race for the Great North Run on the Sunday!) and read out by Sheena and Claire – well done to all involved in the evening, a great night was had by all.
In regards to new upgrades to the Hall, our next piece of work is scheduled for December, this will entail repairing some damp / condensation in the upstairs main room. For one week this room will be out of order whilst the repair works take place. We’re also obtaining a couple of quotes for new LED lights throughout to become more energy efficient and brighten up the Hall!
I know we’re not quite in to November yet, however on the 16th the Tour of Pendle Fell race returns for it’s 40th anniversary. This is usually a busy race with c.300 runners including a few local faces (John, Craig, Rob and myself!). The committee members will be on hand serving the runners tea, coffee, cakes and soup, so if you fancy lending a hand for a few hours or baking a cake or two that would be greatly appreciated – all money raised goes back to the hall to help us upgrade!
