Goldshaw Booth Parish Council

Halloween, Footpaths, Fruit Trees, Mill development and 20MPH limit...

The next event to look forward to will celebrate Halloween and take place over the weekend of 26th/27th October.

This event will include a pumpkin festival and a best dressed house competition. The school will be included in the pumpkin competition. The deadline for submissions will be midday on the 26th October. There will be vouchers from local businesses for the best dressed houses and a family chocolate hamper for the pumpkin competition. There will be a small cost for entry to the competitions.

To follow this there will be a village bonfire in early November.

We are very grateful to the Pendle Borough Council Countryside Access Volunteers, who were out in Goldshaw Booth on the 18th September and completed the following:

  • Replaced lambing gate on FP30 (Pendle Way) near Far Banks/Fell Wood;
  • Repaired missing left facing witch sign that was missing;
  • Cleared broken stile on FP32 and replaced with gate and new way mark post;
  • Fixed the gate that wasn’t self closing, near Tynedale Farm on FP41, by clearing vegetation and laying down flagstone and gravel.

Watch out for more info on how we intend to help keeping the footpaths clear from being overgrown so that we can enjoy our local walks.

By the time you read this we will have planted the fruit trees that we acquired earlier in the year, as part of a grant from the Barrowford and Western parishes.

It is also good to see that the temporary fencing has been taken down next to the Spenbrook development and work being undertaken to level the area and install fencing.

At the last parish meeting, we agreed to submit a request for a reduction in the speed limit throughout the village to 20MPH. We’ll keep you updated on any progress made and whether you can help in any way to get this approved.

Council meetings will now take place on the 2nd Monday of the month at 7:00 PM, and we look forward to welcoming you to the next one taking place on the 14th October.
