Roughlee Village Centre
FORA Celebration (19 Oct), Halloween Festival (27 Oct), Witch Wines (9 Nov)...
As the days draw in and the autumn and winter starts for us all, our village centre will be back in full flow to brighten up and entertain villagers over this period.
The final results of the Best Kept Village contest are announced on October 15th, where hopefully Roughlee will be crowned Champions after 2 recent Reserve awards. To celebrate the effort of the FORA team which is jointly led by Ian Mortimer and Meg Davey we have decided to have a fundraiser to help with costs towards the 2025 contest and thank all those who put great time and effort in making Roughlee the top small village locally, and fingers crossed in the county too. Come what may we will celebrate our achievements on Sat October 19th at the village centre.

The next event in the village is a daytime Halloween spectacular enjoyed by adults and children alike, which will be held on Sunday 27th October. You will hopefully put displays around your houses, gardens etc – GET YOUR SCARECROWS UP BY 11AM on the day for judging and enhance the day with a £50 voucher for Salterforth Garden centre for our winners! The village centre will be a hive of activity as usual: kids fancy dress contest, fun & craft zone, big screen scary movies, Stone the Crows morris dancers, hot food, cafe, cakes and licensed bar.

On November 9th we have for the adults our very popular Witch Wines Night – fine wines to taste, cheese boards, pork pies and chutneys a plenty. This is a limited space / numbers event where bookings will be taken by Graham Hill (email) from 20th October at a cost of £20 a head.
Further on this year we will be hosting:
- Saturday 7th December – Dickens Xmas Fayre
- Saturday 21st December – Christmas Party
- Saturday 28th December – Big Screen Night CINDERELLA (village panto again)
Hope to see as many as possible at all our events – don’t forget the Halloween Scarecrow displays!
