Halloween & Bonfire (2 Nov), Katherine Mann, Picnic Tables, Boskins, Apple Trees, Spenbrook Fencing, Environmental Sustainability...
By the time you read this, the Halloween celebrations will have taken place and we will have winners from the Pumpkin Patch and for the Houses of Halloween. Both these events have provided us with light hearted fun around the villages, as can be seen in the pictures.
Don’t forget the annual bonfire will be held in the village park on 2nd November. Lighting will take place at 6pm, and food and drinks will be available. It is a family friendly event with no fireworks. You are quite welcome to bring along sparklers if you want though.
The Parish Council are pleased to welcome a new addition. Katherine Mann was co-opted at the last meeting. We still have a vacancy, so if you are interested, please get in touch. We’d be happy to explain what is involved.
The Council has also approved 5 new Picnic Tables, one of which will be wheelchair accessible, which will be sited around the village replacing the damaged one near the pond and adding further seating options. We have also approved the refurbishment of the Boskins, so keep your eyes peeled for those being fully restored and back in place.
You may have noticed that 7 of the 12 new apple trees have been planted in the upper field too and that the contractors have now installed fencing as you come into Spen Brook.
Look out for a questionnaire on environmental sustainability popping through your doors in the near future. Following the events held earlier in the year in Barrowford, we, together with our neighbours in Barley and Roughlee, will be investigating what we can and are willing to do to positively affect climate change.
The next Council meeting will take place on the 11th November at 7pm, all residents are most welcome to come along and join in.
