Roughlee CE Primary School
What a busy start to the school year!
We started this year by tidying our school garden with the staff, parents and children. We would like to invite the local residents to help us to tend to our garden, as it is quite a task. The school garden is always accessible so if anybody has any spare time, we would greatly appreciate any help and we will even provide refreshments!
On 24th September, we held a really successful School Improvement Meeting. During this meeting, staff, parents and governors gathered to discuss the school’s many achievements and we brainstormed ideas on how we can make our school even better. Roughlee really is one big family so we value everybody’s input.
On 11th October, we enjoyed a fantastic day working in collaboration with St Mary’s CE Primary Academy. Our children explored a wide range of Islamic art and enjoyed workshops ran by Imran from the Muslim Learner Service. These workshops explored the similarities and differences between Christianity and Islam. We ended the day by having a lovely Harvest Service at St Mary’s Church, which was led by Father Paul. The service was beautiful and we would like to thank Father Paul and his helpers for their hard work. This was Father Paul’s final official service with us so we would like to take this time to thank him for the wonderful positive impact he’s had on us all here at Roughlee.
We ended the half term with our Junior children experiencing a fantastic school trip to the Houses of Parliament. They were extremely well behaved and really were a credit to our school, well done Juniors!
We have lots of exciting upcoming events in the Autumn Term 2 which I’m sure will keep us very busy! Please note that our Christmas Fair is taking place on Friday 13th December 2024 from 2.15pm and you are all welcome to attend.
