St Mary’s Newchurch
Hello from Nick and Joy…
Well, it’s taken a while, but Joy and I are really glad to be able to announce we will be moving to Barrowford to join with you at the churches of St Thomas and St Mary as I become your new Vicar.
This move will mark significant changes for us. We have lived in North Yorkshire for nearly 30 years. Ripon was our home before we moved to Harrogate where I have served as Curate in St Robert’s Church Pannal and St Michael’s Church Beckwithshaw.
Before being ordained I worked for nearly 20 years as a Children and Families Social Worker for three Local Authorities and had a brief spell in management. Joy has always prioritised our children and in her work, in teaching, she has always tried to make sure she was around for them.
Our children have grown up here. Lydia is 23, she lives in Leeds and works as a Personal Trainer. Pray for her as we move further away. Isabel is 20, she works in Harrogate Hospital’s A&E dept as a Care Support worker. Over the next couple of weeks, she will be moving out to live with a family from her church please pray that she settles and is happy in her new home. Edward is 18 and he has just started at Warwick University where he is studying PPE. We haven’t heard that much from him since he started so we assume it’s going well… Pray for him as he settles into university life.
As we move and join you, we are trusting that God is going to work through us and with you. We long to see the good news of Jesus impact our lives, the lives of those we all know and love, and our community. As Joy and I prepare to take on the changes happening in our lives we are praying that just as the Lord prepares our hearts for change, he is preparing yours as well. And that we would all be aware of the Holy Spirit prompting and leading us into new things, in new ways to share the old, old story of Jesus and his love.
