Barley Village Hall

LED lighting, Fell Race, Repairs, Christmas Party, Thanks...

It’s been a busy month at the Village Hall over November. We’ve been finalising details for the new LED lighting that we’ll be having fitted throughout and have been engaging with the PC about a nice outside Christmas surprise that should be seen in the coming days! Saturday 16th November saw the Hall hosting the 40th Tour of Pendle Fell Race in the village. This event is run by Clayton Harriers and is one of 4 fell races throughout the year. This is the longest race of the season and a good opportunity for the Hall to raise some funds for reinvestment. This year we asked local villagers to help bake some cakes for us to sell, so thank you very much to each and everyone of you that donated, I’m pleased to report all soup and cakes sold out and we raised a record amount for the Hall!

In the first week of December, Stone Oak will be in the upstairs room from 9th December carrying out some building repairs to some damp that we have, the work is expected to last a week and as we move in to the new year we’ll continue our upgrade works and turn our attention to redecorating the upstairs room, please bear with if you see the odd bit of mess!

On Saturday 15th December the Barley Events Committee will throw their annual Christmas party. From 3pm families can meet at the Village Hall and follow Santa through the village to the chapel for some Christmas fun, we hope as many people in the village can make this, it will be a great event.

As we come towards the end of the year, I’d like to take the opportunity to thank all our Committee members who have helped run the Hall this past 12 months and all the users of the Hall too. Without you all, the village wouldn’t have a Hall to use. Wishing you all a very merry Christmas and a prosperous 2025.
