St Mary’s CE Primary School
Moon, Sports, Branching Out, Christmas activities...
A handful of our junior children were invited to attend the Cidari Moon Conference at Blackburn Cathedral, they had an amazing day admiring and reflecting about the moon with Mrs Nightingale. Most of the schools in our Cidari Multi-Academy took part and it was a great way to meet new friends. Each of the children took part in a different activity around a big question about the moon with children from other schools. Reverend Ben led an opening worship where we learnt about how God created the moon by hand and crowned us all with honour and glory. Bishop Philip encouraged all of the children to lie underneath the moon art installation and gaze at it while pondering thought provoking questions. Reverend Alan closed the day with a fun moon quiz. Thank you again to everyone that go involved to arrange such a fantastic day for our children.
The children have had lots of fun attending a number of CVL Football and UV Dodgeball competitions where they have represented our school, the children have done amazingly well and have made St Mary’s very proud, they are looking forward to continuing these competitions in the New Year!
John Sanson from Branching Out has visited school on two occasions and the children have really enjoyed some fun outside activity days, making dens and exploring in the woods, thank you John!
Thank you to everyone that attended our Family Learning Art Event, I’m sure everyone will agree this was a success and all the parents had a lot of fun getting stuck into the arts and crafts.
We are very busy in the lead up to Christmas and have some very exciting and fun activities planned:
- At the end of November we had Christingle making followed by a service in school with all parents and grandparents invited to get involved.
- The infant children are currently rehearsing for their Nativity, A King is Born with performances being held on the 10th and 12th December.
- Friends of Newchurch have kindly organised a festive fitness Sponsorship in school on the 16th December.
- Then on Tuesday 17th December all of the parents are invited into school for Christmas card making, Mr Demaline our site supervisor I’m sure will have lots of fun cleaning up all of the glitter 😀
- Father Christmas will be visiting St Mary’s and we have a wonderful Christmas dinner for all of the children. Then finally to finish off the week the children are off to see Cinderella at King George’s Hall.
- The school will close on the 20th December with a Christmas Carol Service at church!
I hope everyone has an amazing Christmas and New Year, all the best from the St Marys Team!
