Goldshaw Booth Parish Council

Annual Parish Meeting, PC Changes, New Recycling Scheme, Thanks...

In May Goldshaw Booth Parish Council held its Annual Parish Meeting during which councillors and residents reviewed the progress that has been made over the last twelve months around our priorities of reducing our community carbon footprint, campaigning for a 20mph speed limit and supporting Spenbrook Mill residents’ efforts to ensure that the developers adhere to the planning regulations. A delicious supper of cheese and cake was enjoyed by all, as were the interesting discussions around local history, wildlife conservation, sport and recreation and recycling – huge thanks to all of our contributors.

We are delighted to have a new councillor on board – Mark Hoban has experience in local government, managing waste, transport and environmental services and has also worked in many volunteer roles, including in schools, as a walk leader and a local litter picker. Mark is keen to contribute to the wellbeing of the local community especially trying to improve the physical environment. We thank the outgoing Chair, Frank Shiers, for the valuable work he has undertaken in the role, and welcome a new Chair, Beccy Murrell, and Vice Chair, Paul Kavanagh.

A new environmental recycling scheme is now operational in Newchurch and all residents of the Pendleside villages are encouraged to take any light bulbs, printer cartridges and empty tablet blister packs to the toilet block where there are three black collection bins in the covered area on the left-hand side of the building.

As the lovely weather continues, we will be taking the opportunity to repaint the notice board in Spenbrook and the barge boards on the toilets in Newchurch. Happily, United Utilities have agreed to repaint the palisade fencing above the toilets in green, much more in keeping with our rural landscape.

Finally, a massive thanks to all the volunteers and residents who have worked so hard to tidy up and make our villages look wonderful in time for the Best Kept Village competition. Great job everyone and fingers crossed!
