Pendle Inn, Toilets, New Bins, Himalayan Balsam...

The Pendle Inn has a new manager in Maggie Gold. She started in the last week of August, and she comes with experience of other pubs in …

Roughlee Parish Council

FORA Vacancy, Caravan Park, Speeding...

The results of the BKV competition where published last week and unfortunately, I have to report that we have not progressed to the final round. Whilst this is disappointing it is not totally unexpected. A lot of work has taken place throughout the village (thanks to those involved), but I am afraid that we have probably suffered by not having someone coordinating these efforts. We will continue in our search for someone to take on this role in readiness for next year. If you feel that you could help us with the role, please give me or one of the team a shout, so …

Displays need to be put up by 11am on Saturday morning (1st November). We will have prizes galore to the best ones. The RVCC will be running the event in a collaboration with the Bay Horse who will be holding a full weekend …

In this year’s Bowland Lecture, “Are You Lost? The past, present and future of Bowland”, Dr Rob St John examines the relationship between landscape memory and imagination in Bowland to ask: what does the future hold for this special place?

The lecture will take place on the evening of Tuesday 7th October at Browsholme Hall’s Tithe Barn.

Rob’s lecture explores a series of historical moments over the last 150 years to narrate a story of the invention of contemporary Bowland, including, significantly, the designation of the Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in 1964.

The annual lecture aims to raise funds for local charities, Slaidburn Archive and Champion Bowland …
