Roughlee Parish Council
Village Centre ownership, Jim Davies, Dog Fouling, School Tiles...
I’m pleased to share some positive news about the future of our community facilities. Pendle Borough Council has agreed for us to begin the asset transfer process for the Village Centre, garden, and car park. Solicitors have now been appointed, and we are moving through the legal steps required to complete the transfer. We are being encouraged to progress this as swiftly as possible, so we anticipate the process will be finalised in the near future.
Our thoughts are with Maureen Davies, following the passing of her husband Jim at the end of May. Jim lived in the village his entire life and will be fondly remembered by many of us—especially newcomers—for his unforgettable role as PC Crocket in the village pantomime.
On a less cheerful note, I must again raise the issue of dog fouling along the footpath between Waterfall Cottages and the pub. The amount of dog waste has reached an unacceptable level. Dog owners, please pick up after your pets and use the many bins available throughout the village. It’s really not difficult, and it makes a huge difference to everyone who uses the path.
Finally, the replacement tiles for the walled area next to the bus stop opposite the school have now arrived. Work to tidy the gardened area will begin shortly, followed by installation of the new tiles. Keep an eye out for the improvements.
Next meetings Monday July 6th and August 3rd, 7pm at Roughlee Village Centre.
