Through the summer we are looking at the Old Testament Character of David the Shepherd boy who became an outlaw and then became a King. His life takes up 1 and a half books in the Bible and so is an important figure and established the Kingly leadership of his nation for centuries, but he also did some terrible things. So why has he been considered a hero of the bible? Why does the Bible describe him as ‘a man after God’s own heart’? And does a man who lived over 3000 years ago have any relevance to us and our relationship with God today? We began on the 26th August looking at the incident recorded for us in 1 Samuel 17 and the famous story of David and Goliath and explored how David was chosen for a task and we too can have a purpose for God’s glory. Do come and join us.
Our services through the summer are slightly lighter in liturgy will seek to engage all ages and have activity packs for children. Details are as follows:

- 30th August 11am EPIC summer Worship at St Thomas
As we finish the summer our churches of St Thomas and St Mary’s join together to celebrate ‘EPIC Summer’ (our week of activities each morning at St Thomas church for children in primary school. See further details in the article above.
