The only constant in Downing Street throughout has been Larry the Cat who has greeted every single one of them and heard them say they would bring calm to the chaos. Work at Barley Chapel has continued steadily, and we are pleased to confirm that the initial areas of dry rot have now been successfully treated. This was an important milestone in securing the Chapel Hall for future community use.

However, as the contractors progressed, further patches of dry rot were discovered in additional members. Although unexpected, this is a common challenge in older village buildings. The team acted quickly to remove the affected wood, apply specialist treatments, and replace the compromised sections. Thanks to this swift action, the spread has been stopped and the structure is now safe and sound. We will have obviously more work …

August is a month synonymous with holidays. We often joke that the French seem to take the whole month off. Having spent very little time in France I have no idea if it is true. As another academic year draws to a close, we would like to take this opportunity to reflect on what has been a wonderful final few weeks at school.
