A Massive Thank You!
What a difference a community can make when everyone pulls together!
We are absolutely delighted to share the news that Barley Chapel Hall is now completed and we could not be more thrilled with the result.
What has been achieved is a wonderful reminder of the strength, kindness and community spirit we have here in Barley. The Chapel Hall has been given a new lease of life, ready to welcome people for services, community activities, events, the Repair Café and so much more.
None of this would have been possible without the fantastic help, generosity and support of our local community, local businesses and Lancashire Environmental Fund. The Chapel membership would like to say a heartfelt MASSIVE THANK YOU to everyone who gave their time, skills, materials, donations, energy and enthusiasm to help bring the hall to where it is today.
A very special thank you goes to:
- Nigel Dewhurst – for the amazing work he has done with the lighting and electrical work.
- Luke Standring – for sharing his excellent joinery skills.
- John Connor – for his fantastic plastering skills.
- Brian Pinder – for all his help with the decorating.
- Scott Allen – for doing the chapel garden.
- Robert Stephens – for all the hours he spent organising trades and on doing the work that was needed to get the hall finished.
- And a huge thank you to Lee and James Hunt, Roger and Jamie Lowcock, Rod & Sue Statham, Derek and Caroline Heap, Siobhan Bentley, Bev Hartley, Rosemary Connor, Rebecca Barlow, Frank Wilkinson, Bob Hargreaves and Dan Goldsbrough for all the time, hard work and practical help they have given.
- We would also like to extend our sincere thanks to Dewhurst Decorating Supplies for their generous donation of paint, which has helped give the hall its fresh new look.
- A special thank you also goes to Scanrho Aviation for their generous donation of the hall lights, helping to brighten and transform the newly renovated space.
Whether it was a big job, a small job, painting, building, fixing, cleaning, moving things around, supplying materials or simply being there when an extra pair of hands was needed, every contribution has made a difference.
We are incredibly grateful to everyone who has helped. The finished hall isn’t just a renovated building it is a reflection of what can happen when a community comes together with a shared purpose.
We truly couldn’t have done it without you. Thank you!

Important Dates for Your Diary
Return of the Pendleside Repair Café
Saturday 5th September | 10.30am–1pm
The hugely popular Repair Café returns to Barley Chapel Hall, continuing to bring together practical skills, community spirit and a shared commitment to reducing waste.
With 40 repairs already completed over the last two months, the Repair Café is proving to be a fantastic addition to our community. Come along with something that needs repairing, or simply pop in for a chat, a look around the newly completed hall, a cuppa and a piece of homemade cake!
Monthly Sunday Service
Sunday 6th September
Our September service will be led by our new Minister for Barley, Rev Stephen Donnison.
Please come along, give Stephen a warm Barley welcome and, most importantly, show him just how much having our Chapel here in Barley means to us all.
It will also be a wonderful opportunity to see the work that has been carried out in the Chapel Hall and celebrate what has been achieved together.
FOG Club Returns
Thursday 10th September | 6.30pm
We are delighted to welcome back FOG Club to the Chapel Hall!
After all the hard work that has gone into completing the hall, it will be fantastic to see it filled with the energy and enthusiasm of the FOG Club once again. Lorraine will been touch with existing members before FOG club recommences.

Indoor Car Boot
Saturday 17th October 10.30am – 3pm
We are very excited to announce a new venture for Barley Chapel – an Indoor Car Boot!
We are hoping this will become a regular monthly event, bringing people together for a morning of browsing, bargains, chatting and community spirit.
We are also delighted that the Mayor of Pendle will be joining us for this first event.

Come and Be Part of It!
The Chapel has always been about people – faith, friendship, community and a place where everyone can feel welcome.
The completion of the hall marks an exciting new chapter for Barley Methodist Chapel, and we are looking forward to filling it with laughter, conversation, activity, friendship and fellowship.
