From St Mary’s

A week in the life of the new Church Warden...

A few months ago, Fr Paul casually wondered aloud who would be the next warden at St Mary’s.

  • Last week was the first full week of your writer being officially signed in as church warden alongside the experienced warden, Douglas. On Saturday we set up and held a concert of amazing local talent, loud music and lights and free food(cake!) and wine.
  • On Sunday we had a service outside to celebrate the end of ‘Cherish Your Churchyard’ week, a well-attended baptism and an afternoon of Cherishing Our Churchyard activities and more cake, oh and Fr Paul, on his way to the hustings, asked …

Barley Parish Council

Playground, BKV, Village Green, Boothman Wood...

Residents will have noticed that the new playground upgrade is nearing completion. Tidying, Councillor Vacancies, Clerk, Spenbrook Mill...

It gives us great pleasure to announce that Stephen Mahon from Newchurch is newly recruited to GBPC. With boundless energy and positivity, he is already making an impact and has launched the new Goldshaw Booth WhatsApp Group. We still have two …

Walking with Witches (20 July), Macmillan fundraiser (12 July)...

Roughlee Village Centre Committee would like to thank everyone who attended or worked at the highly successful Beer, Gin and Music Festival. Camra members on block agreed it is the finest of it type anywhere local. The event not only boosts the centre’s funds but was supporting our efforts to make money for Derian House Childrens Hospice and local business came forward in numbers to boost that total.

The next event at the centre is a Macmillan Cancer Support fundraiser on Friday 12th July including quiz and pie and pea supper. Tickets are required and can be obtained at tonight’s Roughlee Parish Gathering or from Glen …
